Traits

  • Corrosive Presence. Any nonmagical weapon made of metal that hits the sentinel corrodes: after dealing damage, the weapon takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to damage rolls. If its penalty reaches -5, the weapon is destroyed.
  • Unyielding Vigil. The sentinel doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep, and magic can't put it to sleep. While it remains within 30 feet of the door, vault, or ward it was bound to guard, it has advantage on saving throws against being moved against its will.
  • Rusted Frame. If the sentinel takes 10 or more acid damage in a single turn, its speed is halved until the end of its next turn as its joints seize.

Actions

  • Multiattack. The sentinel makes two Rusted Greatblade attacks.
  • Rusted Greatblade. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) slashing damage plus 4 (1d8) necrotic damage as flakes of cursed rust work into the wound.
  • Rust Wave (Recharge 5-6). The sentinel exhales a 15-foot cone of corroding red dust. Each creature in that area must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 27 (6d8) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Nonmagical metal armor worn by a creature that fails takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to the AC it offers; armor reduced to an AC of 10 is destroyed.

Bonus Actions & Reactions

Grating Parry (Reaction). The sentinel adds 3 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it. To do so, the sentinel must see the attacker and be wielding its greatblade.
